Chicago Daze

INTERESTS: The Triune God

I'm a wife and mother to a gorgeous baby boy, living in Chicago who loves anything that has to do with the trinity, music, art, film, food, laughing, decor, and design. (a little bit of sports too!)

Current hair styling products I’m using that are working GREAT!
“Healthy Sexy Hair” leave in conditioner - I use it right after getting out of the shower and spray generous amounts all over, but never comb through! I comb when I’m conditioning.
“Curly Sexy Hair” curl spray - gives my curls amazing definition without making them hard and crunchy the way mousse or gel would. PLUS it smells magnificent!
Best thing about both products? ALCOHOL FREE! So no more drying out my curly hair!

Cast your vote!!

I’ve got a ton of weddings to get to this summer, not all I’m positive we’ll be able to make :/ unfortunately! But with all these weddings I need a nice new dress to wear, so I can’t decide on which I like best but I’ve narrowed it down to a few choices and I’m putting up my top picks and letting you cast votes on which you like best for me!

distressed door DIY

BEFORE

AFTER

I spent part of my night upcycling this door. It was shiny new and modern from Ikea. We happened to break one of the doors to our new wardrobes, and when we went back to get a replacement, we were given two! So I decided to keep the extra one and turn it into something decorative. And here it is :)

DIY Rope Lamp

I created this rope lamp, and not only was it EASY but it saved me a TON of money! And I love anytime those two options combine. Here’s how it’s done:

Materials:
-Manila Rope (found at Home Depot, I used 4 feet of rope)
-Glass lamp bottom of choice (mine was found at Target but can be found almost anywhere)
-Lamp shade of choice (mine is from Target)

Instructions:
-add rope inside glass bottom, put shade on top. TA-DA! YOU ARE DONE!

SO easy.

This Weekend..

Joe & I spent many of late hours drilling, nailing, and constructing this weekend. We finally finished our his & her wardrobes:

Joe mounted the tv for me

And a few of my new favorite touches included a manila rope lamp:

and a paper machet deer head you know, so my husband can tap into his Alabama-based red neck roots and stop trying to escape them… just kidding! This is too classy to be red neck

We’re getting closer to finishing but not done yet! We still have a list of things to buy/projects to complete:

  1. Living Room, Bedroom, and Kitchen window treatments
  2. Painting & distressing our gateleg table
  3. Building our coffee table from a wooden pallet, then painting it and adding glass
  4. Putting together our new bed
  5. Finding an entry way bench with cubbies that actually fits our small entry way

We’re knocking this items off one at a time. Hopefully we’ll be done within the next month because it’s difficult living in a space you’re also constructing in. Thank God for pack n plays for baby E to play in while we build!
